Epichlorohydrin is a colorless oily liquid with a pungent odor like ether and chloroform. It is flammable, volatile, toxic and anesthetic. It is miscible with many organic solvents such as ethanol, propanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, trichloroethylene and carbon tetrachloride. It is easily soluble in benzene and slightly soluble in water.

Application

Epichlorohydrin is a basic organic chemical raw material with a wide range of uses. It is an intermediate for the synthesis of glycerol and the main raw material for the synthesis of epoxy resins, chlorohydrin rubber and other products. It can be used to manufacture glass fiber reinforced plastics, adhesives, cation exchange resins, electrical insulation products, solvents, plasticizers, stabilizers, surfactants and pharmaceuticals, and can also be used to manufacture various synthetic resins with special functions.
