Product Description
Dichloromethane is a colorless, transparent, heavier than water, volatile liquid with an ether-like odor and sweetness. It does not burn, but forms an explosive mixture when mixed with high concentrations of oxygen. Dichloromethane is slightly soluble in water and miscible with most commonly used organic solvents. It can also be miscible with other chlorinated solvents, ether, ethanol and N,N-dimethylformamide in any proportion. Dichloromethane is poorly soluble in liquid ammonia at room temperature, but can be quickly dissolved in phenol, aldehydes, ketones, glacial acetic acid, triethyl phosphate, formamide, cyclohexylamine, and ethyl acetoacetate.
Dichloromethane has the advantages of strong dissolving capacity and low toxicity, and is widely used in the manufacture of safety film, polycarbonate, and the remainder is used as coating solvent, metal degreasing agent, aerosol propellant, polyurethane foaming agent, release agent, paint remover.
